“Prom perfection… and so much better than a tent”

27 Jun 2016Reviewed by LondonTravellingDeb

I used to visit Wilsons Prom as a child – camping with my family at the Tidal River campsite. So how wonderful it is to visit the Prom several decades later, staying at a delightful, well-situated and comfortable cottage at Limosa Rise. No need to worry about the tent blowing over in a gale, which you sometimes get in this part of the world, when you can listen to the rain on the roof and curl up in front of the fireplace with Scrabble. Scrabble and firewood are part of the supplies in this well-equipped cottage with fabulous views – you will want to stock up on comfort foods en route so you can settle in after your day’s hiking at the Prom – or whatever in this lovely region of Victoria takes your fancy. But I do recommend it as a gateway to one of the most beautiful national parks in the world, where Squeaky Beach is happily unchanged from the days of my childhood, although the walking tracks are much better maintained than they used to be. And staying here is so much more comfortable than darting for the shower block in the dark!

This was our return visit to this gorgeous part of the world & definitely worth it..the uninterrupted views from the floor to ceiling windows from our studio cottage were just beautiful & so lovely to lie in bed & watch the sunrise. Well equipped kitchen, lots of flora & fauna, close to Wilsons Prom & lovely hosts..highly recommended.

We stayed two nights at this luxury property. There are three cottages well separated and not overlooked by any other property.
We were given the middle cottage which did have two bedrooms although one was locked. The open plan lounge, diner, kitchen was large and with panoramic windows overlooking open farmland and with sea views.

The bedroom was of a good size and was en-suite which had a walk in shower.

The room was clean and very comfortable. There is a log burner stove for cooler nights.

This is a great base to use for visiting the area. We would recommend it to everyone.

Web site rate of A$305/night makes this quite expensive but with the quality and positioning we would rate as value for money.

Wi-fi available at the reception area only.

Visited during an at times bleak winter weekend. Owners were lovely and considerate despite us turning up a little late. We stayed in the middle 1 bedroom banksia and would love to do so again. Beautiful views, nature on your doorstep and true peace and quiet. Wood fire, collection of music and excellent kitchen all great additions. Book ahead!

This was one of our best stays in Australia with great views, very neat and clean accommodation. The quiet paddock/bush surroundings with abundance of bird life will take us back!

We had a great 4 days at Limosa Rise. The property is away from the crowds at Tidal River but only a short drive to all that the Prom has to offer. Beautiful views under big skies across Corner Inlet to the Prom, Port Franklin, Toora, etc. Although there are 3 cottages each one is quite private, with Australian bush gardens surrounding each one. Our cottage was fresh, bright, comfy and had quality kitchen utensils for cooking anything you might wish. Loved sitting on the verandah watching the wildlife or chilling on the couch inside in front of the wood fire. A very relaxing week spent reading, listening to music and walking some of the Prom trails.

A relaxed sophisticated retreat with amazing attention to detail to make your stay even more of an escape. The fire place was ready to light on our arrival and the kitchen was stocked with just the right bits and pieces to make cooking easy and cosy. The cottage was incredibly clean and well presented and had information about the local areas on hand. Great views from the large living room windows. Couldn’t have expected more.

We had a very relaxing time. The views are sensational. It is close enough to the prom to go out for day walks. Or you can explore the local beach. We thoroughly enjoyed our stay and will come again.

We thoroughly enjoyed our stay at Limosa Rise. Joan was a delightful host, gracious and thoughtful. The cottage was spotless with a fantastic kitchen, bbq and comfortable beds. The coffee and biscuits were a very welcomed treat. The fire was amazing on the chilly nights. A fabulous location close to Wilson’s Prom With views that are indescribable. Highly recommend and we will be back!

The location is amazing, with the most impressive view into the Prom. The cottage is spacious, well designed and kept, with everything you need for a long stay. Fantastic break away.
