“Prom perfection… and so much better than a tent”

27 Jun 2016Reviewed by LondonTravellingDeb

I used to visit Wilsons Prom as a child – camping with my family at the Tidal River campsite. So how wonderful it is to visit the Prom several decades later, staying at a delightful, well-situated and comfortable cottage at Limosa Rise. No need to worry about the tent blowing over in a gale, which you sometimes get in this part of the world, when you can listen to the rain on the roof and curl up in front of the fireplace with Scrabble. Scrabble and firewood are part of the supplies in this well-equipped cottage with fabulous views – you will want to stock up on comfort foods en route so you can settle in after your day’s hiking at the Prom – or whatever in this lovely region of Victoria takes your fancy. But I do recommend it as a gateway to one of the most beautiful national parks in the world, where Squeaky Beach is happily unchanged from the days of my childhood, although the walking tracks are much better maintained than they used to be. And staying here is so much more comfortable than darting for the shower block in the dark!

“Excellent”

Wonderful cottage, very well equiped and clean with a stunning view over Wilsons Promontory. Perfect to relax and to spot birds and wildlive drinking from a pond in the field from the porch. Optimal privacy.

“BEAUTIFUL PART OF THE WORLD”

We had the pleasure of staying in one of the two, two bedroom luxury cottages at Limosa Rise for three nights and all four of us wished it was longer. Such a gorgeous place, the first thing that takes your breath away on entering the cottage is the views, views from every window in the living area, looking over the countryside down to the sea, the same views are to be enjoyed from each of the bedrooms, how wonderful waking up to such a peaceful setting……

“Sublime Treat and a Retreat”

Well!, it has already been expressed in the other reviews of Limosa Rise and the comments in the guest book. Our stay here was just bliss and everything plus that we expected when we booked. In fact, it was so good we extended our stay for an additional night and were disappointed to leave this morning. Firstly, the hosts are delightful and nothing is too much trouble and everything has been anticipated to make your stay memorable. The location in perfect, at the end of the road you will enter a haven of peace and tranquility and on our first night we not only saw a mob of Kangeroos feeding in an overlooked field, but the Limosa Lapponica that the retreat is named after. You will overlook the sea and see the sunrise and set behind the plot and be amazed at the wildlife. We would strongly recommend anyone who enjoys comfort, peace and wish to reflect or recharge to spend a few days at Limosa Rise and of course enjoy exploring Wllsons Promontory.

“An exceptional place”

Time suspend your flight …. this is what can best describe the impression left by this wonderful place. Simplicity, tranquility, comfort, exceptional view of the bay and an environment of great wealth (flora and fauna) and accessibility by accessing the Wilsons Promontory National Park. One of the nicest places we have ever discovered. Not to mention the very nice home.

Top accommodation in Yanakie

The owner is lovely, I loved the configuration of the unit, and its very well equipped too!
The view over Duck Point is stunning, you’re at the top of the hill overlooking the water; there is wildlife everywhere; Wonderful fireplace!
This accommodation was a bit more expensive than the places we usually go to, but was definitely worth it, would come again! ++++

Superb, spacious accommodation with great views and close to the entrance to Wilsons Promentory.

Each accommodation building is self contained and very private. The kitchens are well equipped with everything you need to make a good meal. There is a wood burning stove which was made up ready to light on our arrival and made the whole place very cosy. Wall to ceiling windows make the whole place very bright and let you see the many birds and great views outside.

Would have liked another day or two, but the long weekend we spent provided easy 10 minute drive to the Prom as well as short drive to Shallow Inlet. The accommodation was great – we loved sitting on the deck with wine & nibbles overlooking the bay and watching kangas come out on dusk. Very private units with well maintained gardens and excellent facilities provided. Highly recommended

We stayed two nights at this luxury property. There are three cottages well separated and not overlooked by any other property.
We were given the middle cottage which did have two bedrooms although one was locked. The open plan lounge, diner, kitchen was large and with panoramic windows overlooking open farmland and with sea views.

The bedroom was of a good size and was en-suite which had a walk in shower.

The room was clean and very comfortable. There is a log burner stove for cooler nights.

This is a great base to use for visiting the area. We would recommend it to everyone.

Web site rate of A$305/night makes this quite expensive but with the quality and positioning we would rate as value for money.

Wi-fi available at the reception area only.
