Measuring our Carbon Footprint

Yesterday, we had our carbon footprint measured by The Centre for Innovation and Sustainability Excellence of VECCI.

VECCI defines sustainability as:

“meeting the needs of today without compromising the needs of generations to come. For business this means managing and improving your environmental, community, workplace and economic practices.”

We built our cottages with sustainability in mind, so its no surprise that the feedback we received was positive, but comparing the statistics is a tricky issue – there doesn’t seem to be much hard data on what good / bad / average levels of carbon emissions are for business.

Over the next few weeks, we’ll be doing a whole lot of reading to understand what the figures mean, and how we can continue to improve.

You can have your business’ carbon footprint assessed by contacting VECCI at the link above.  The evaluations are valued at $249, but they’re being offered free at the moment.
